On-board communication system

Talking to your passenger while travelling, listening to the radio or CD via headset, making calls on your mobile phone, using CB radio or the BMW Motorrad Navigator - all this is possible with the on-board communication system. It is available as a special accessory in the equipment range of the BMW Motorrad luxury touring bikes, for example.

The communication system is simple and convenient to use while on the road, too. The controls of the radio/CD player are to be found at the center below the instruments and consist of three pressure buttons which the rider can use to select the various functions. One button is used to select the function - e.g. intercom, radio, telephone, CB - and the two other knobs regulate the volume of the rider and passenger helmet speakers and activate the intercom microphone of the rider and passenger microphone.

The so-called private mode can also be selected: this means that only the rider can conduct a conversation on the mobile phone. As is familiar from modern car audio systems, the BMW Motorrad on-board communication system regulates the volume automatically. When the speed is increased, the volume is automatically adjusted accordingly, if the speed is decreased, the volume setting goes down with the reduction in road noise. This function can be activated and deactivated on the back of the control unit.
