BMW handling. In a class not known for it.

Are all of your roads perfectly smooth? Or do you ride in the "real world"? With the R 1200 C, you can carve up the corners with the sport bikes. The trademark BMW Boxer twin provides a low center of gravity for excellent balance, even at low speeds. Here is a cruiser for riding, not posing. To see complete specs, click.

Looks great. Rides better.

Front suspension control is provided by BMW's famous Telelever system, with its unique anti-dive properties. It's mounted to a cast-aluminum front frame section. A Monolever adjustable suspension, alloy hub and wire wheel bring up the rear, soaking up bumps without altering your line in the turns. What you've got with this combination is superb handling unmatched by any of the competition.

The R 1200 C has plenty of style, but what distinguishes it is how it rides. It's the only cruiser with ABS. It's got digital electronic fuel injection. At 565 pounds, it's lighter than any other premium cruiser. This all adds up to a cruiser that doesn't have to make apologies as a motorcycle. It's 100 percent BMW.

Laid back and fast forward at the same time.

Details matter.

Small touches will take you a long way with the R 1200 C. Its three-position folding backrest is upholstered in leather to match the saddle. Beautiful, but not without function it supports the rider's lower back while providing a sturdy base for stowing gear. And it can convert into your passenger's seat at the twist of a lever.

In addition, the R 1200 C's controls can be individually adjusted to become a virtual extension of your body. The clutch and brake levers each have four different settings. Another nice detail: a single key takes care of the ignition, gas cap lock and steering column lock.

Making it "yours".

Opportunities are endless to individualize your ride. It all begins with a choice of Classic plus three special editions, seven exterior finishes and three complementary colors of leather for the saddle and handgrips. Speaking of handgrips, youâve got a choice (installed by your retailer) of straight handlebars, Euro sport bars or the stand a rd touring bars. And heated grips are even standard on the R 1200 C Montana.

Optional chrome engine bars not only protect the beloved multi-valve Boxer engine, they also double as highway pegs for comfortable long-distance riding. And there are many other options and accessories specially designed for the R 1200 C, from luggage systems to windshields to a large passenger seat and grabrail, to name just a few.

Special editions.

Go even farther with one of the R 1200 C special editions. The popular Euro is back with a gleaming coat of Ice Blue Metallic or Dust Metallic paint. It has special driving lights, engine protection bars, a speedster windshield, a European seat cover and blacked-out drivetrain components. The crowning touch is the "grafitan" finish on all the right parts, from the engine to the shaft drive and even to the taillamp housing. The Stiletto is a limited edition "street - fighter" version of the Euro, finished in Night Black.

The Montana gives the R 1200 C more of a touring touch. It has custom leather lockable saddlebags, a raised windshield, heated grips and an extra-large passenger seat. The special edition Phoenix, with its vivid two-tone Mandarin and Graphite paint scheme, has BBS sport alloy wheels with stainless steel rims, a small speedster windscreen, solo seat, halogen driving lights and special chrome highlights.

The heart of any motorcycle is its powerplant...the way it looks, feels, performs. There is no compromise in the R 1200 C. The famed Boxer twin engine is BMW's most defining trademark, and the R 1200 C has BMW's biggest Boxer.

Specially tuned for real - road conditions, its combination of electronic engine management, fuel injection and sheer brute force pumps out a broad reservoir of torque that can be tapped at any speed with a simple flick of the wrist. And its wide-ratio gearbox gives you ãright nowä bursts of power off the line, yet an easy, overdrive highway ride.

Great view.

The view from behind the handlebars reveals another array of fine detail: a gloss of clear-coat paint, hand pinstriping* on the fuel tank and sculpted brightwork on the console, speedometer, fuel filler and turn signals. The turn signals are even self-cancelling.

Chrome. Leather. Nice.

High-quality brightwork is part of the package.* Exhaust pipes and mufflers are chromed stainless steel. Valve covers are brightly chromed. Leather on the seat and the handgrips feels great. And leathercovered hard bags are optional.

Quality endures.

Superior engineering is obviously behind every detail of the R 1200 C. Quality is an obsession at BMW. And you reap the benefits with every mile.
