At the front of every adventure is a BMW
With thousands of square miles of excellent riding terrain literally on the doorstep, BMW GS owners in the USA are spoiled for choice when it comes to off-road riding. And with an ever-expanding Enduro rider base, BMW Motorrad USA has decided to become the official AMA (American Motorcyclist Association) Adventure Riding Series Sponsor.
The AMA protects and promotes the interests of the world's largest group of motorcyclists. With over 265,000 members, it focuses on rights, riding and racing through its government relations work, by sanctioning road and off-road riding activities and overseeing professional and amateur racing events, such as the AMA Superbike Championship.
The AMA BMW National Adventure Riding Series is a new, yearly riding series of approximately 15 multi-day events designed specifically for adventure/dual-sport motorcycle enthusiasts. Similar in format to BMW's own XPLOR GS Ride concept, the rides are open to all AMA members and embrace riders of every brand of enduro-style, off-road motorcycles.
It is a truly national series with events taking place from coast to coast. Participating riders must be an AMA member to join the events, and those who have previously attended these kinds of activities have turned up on just about every brand of motorcycle that has a model in the 'Adventure Sport' category.
The next event being held nearby is:
The 2008 Yosemite Dual Sport Adventure
Saturday & Sunday September 27th & 28th, 2008
